Shortcuts and Quick Switcher
Everything you do often in Fox Git can be done from the keyboard. The tables use macOS keys; on Windows and Linux use Ctrl for ⌘ and Shift for ⇧. The full list is under Settings → Shortcuts.
Global shortcuts
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
⌘P | Open the Quick Switcher (All) |
⌘⇧P | Command palette (commands only) |
⌘O | Open repository |
⌘⇧O | Clone repository |
⌘R | Refresh |
⌘F | Search history |
⌘⇧S | Stash changes |
⌘, | Settings |
⌘1 – ⌘6 | Explorer / Changes / History / Branches / Stashes / Worktrees |
Single-key Git actions
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
f | Fetch |
p | Pull |
u | Push / publish branch |
Single-key shortcuts never fire inside text fields, search boxes, editors, dialogs, or during IME composition. When a command is not available in the current state (for example, no repository is open), Fox Git tells you why instead of silently doing nothing.
Quick Switcher
⌘P opens the Quick Switcher on the All tab, grouping the most relevant results by category. Tabs: All, Files, Changes, Commits, Branches, Repositories, Commands.
| Prefix | Searches only |
|---|---|
> | Commands |
# | Commits |
@ | Branches |
/ | Files |
Keyboard: Tab / ⇧Tab switch tabs, ⌘1–⌘7 jump to a tab, arrow keys select, Enter runs, Esc closes. Matching is fuzzy subsequence matching that favors consecutive characters, word starts, and file names, and highlights every hit. Commit search runs in the backend (message, hash, author), so it is not limited to the history pages already loaded.
What Enter does:
- File: preview it in Explorer;
- Change: open its diff;
- Commit: reveal it in the graph;
- Local branch: switch to it; remote branches and tags: view their history;
- Repository / worktree: open it;
- Command: run it.
Custom shortcuts are coming soon — see the roadmap.
